In response to expressed concerns about the early hour of our Sunday worship, the leadership council has implemented a pilot project, holding worship at 4 pm (instead of 9am) on the second Sunday of each month.
Worship is at 9:00 a.m. on all Sundays, except for the 2nd Sunday when it will be held at 4 p.m. and followed by a potluck fellowship meal. Please give this schedule a try. The afternoon service will follow the same liturgy (order of worship) that we are using that month at the morning service. The only change is in the time and the addition of a potluck meal rather than cake and coffee after worship.
This 2nd Sunday time change, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will continue through August to give it a fair trial. In April, the attendance was as good as any Sunday morning and the meal and birthday cake were enjoyed by all who came. Maybe the May 4 pm service falling on Mother’s Day wasn’t such a great idea, as attendance numbers were down and no new families participated.
We still have three months to go. If attending a 4 pm service on Sunday, rather than 9 am appeals to you, please join us on June 12, July 10, and August 14. Service times will be evaluated after August 14. Make your voice heard!
If you would like to participate in this experiment, please come to worship at 4:00 p.m. on June 12, July 10, and August 14. If you have no time or ingredients to prepare a dish to share, stay for the potluck anyway. There is bound to be more than enough food for all of us.
After you have attended several of both the 9 am and the 4 pm services, please share your impressions with a member of the council. Thanks for supporting this effort.
Thirty-one joyful, if a little chilly and wet (for some of us), people gathered for worship at a picnic at Sandy Bottom on June 12. Our singing was praise to the Lord.
